Today we encountered Resident Orcas & Humpbacks! When we arrived on scene the Orcas were almost at Sooke. We soon identified members of Jpod including J2 Granny, J19 Shachi plus L87 and several others. As we watched though it became apparent there were more Orcas out there than just Jpod! The Orcas seemd to be happy to be back and we saw several cartwheels & spyhops. We had a nice pass by J2 “Granny” & L87 “Onyx” who passed about 110 yards from our boat The old girl (estimated to have been born in 1911) looked good & healthy. We also got to see some Humpbacks this afternoon including “Split Fluke”. When “Split Fluke” did one of her deep dives she also pooped, much to the shock and amusement of our passengers We also got to see several Tail Flukes as the Humpbacks went on deep dives.
