Today during our afternoon trip we encountered a couple of Humpback Whales south of Victoria. The Humpbacks included one of our favourite Whales known as "Split Fin" due to the very distinctive dorsal fin on this animal. We have been following "Split Fin" in the Salish Sea since at least 2007! Usually we use the underneath of the Tail Flukes on the Humpbacks to identify them, but some such as "Split Fin" can also easily be identified by their dorsal fins. It was a great start to the trip but the best was yet to come!!!! We then headed over to William Head and came across a pod of Transient Orcas. The Orcas started to attack a Sea Lion not long after we arrived on scene, it was an amazing spectacle!
