April 26th - Transient Orcas!

We encountered Transient Orcas, the TO49A's near Port Angeles today! The Orcas had first been reported near Trial Island, just off Victoria waterfront. By the time we went out they had traveled south west and we picked them up just west of Port Angles Harbour. When we first arrived they were in resting formation but then made a kill (probably of a Harbor Seal) then played with some Bull Kelp. We left them a few miles south of Race Rocks still heading west.

We also encountered a lone Sea Otter near the Orcas as well. He was a scruffy looking guy but still cute!
