Today we encountered Transient Orcas again, this time near Java Rocks! This was the same group as we had yesterday, the TO49A’s and TO123’s. The Orcas had first been encountered near to Turn Point but moved north East slowly into Boundary Pass. We caught up with them just before they reached Java Rocks and they were in a sleepy mood. However, as they reached Java Rocks they switched and we saw the group had split and one of the big males was hunting for Seals right by Java Rocks. The Seals were freaked out, in fact you could see the look of terror in their eyes as the oceans top predator tried to grab one of them! Apart from the Orcas & Seals, we also got to see Steller Sea Lions, Porpoise Bald Eagles and even some Sitka Deer on Spieden Island! We could not have asked for a better day and it is always extra special when we can navigate around the Southern Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands :)
