Today we had an incredible encounter with Jpod in Haro Strait! Just before we left the Harbour word started to trickle in that members of Jpod had been picked up near San Juan Island slowly heading North. When we arrived on scene the Orcas were spread between Lime Kiln and half north of Beaumont Shoals still slowly going north. We followed Jpod north as they made their way towards kelp reef. Most of our time was spent with a very active group including the J17’s & J22’s. We got to see lots of socializing plus cartwheels, spyhops, tail slaps, Porpoising (high speed swimming), inverted Tail Lobs and Breaching, it was incredible J28 “Polaris” and her two kids J46 “Star” (who was adopted this winter by the 5 Star crew) and little J54 could be seen fooling around amongst the other Orcas. We also got to see another favourite, J27 “Blackberry” as well as J34 “DoubleStuf” who is getting really big!

We also encountered Porpoise, Harbor Seals, Sea Lions and Bald Eagles today on what was a glorious day!
